Il Tempio di Giunone Moneta sull'acropoli di Segni

This monograph presents a comprehensive archaeological, historical, and architectural analysis of the sanctuary dedicated to Juno Moneta on the acropolis of ancient Signia (modern Segni, Italy). Integrating archival records, recent excavations, and topochronological data, the study explores the spatial and structural evolution of the acropolis complex within the broader urban development of the Latin colony. Central to the investigation is the monumental mid-republican temple, examined through its stone platform, hydraulic systems, construction techniques, and Hellenistic influences. Furthermore, a systematic cataloging and contextual re-evaluation of the site's architectural terracottas—ranging from archaic and late-archaic relief friezes to mid- and late-republican roof decorations—provides critical evidence for revising the chronology and stylistic trajectory of the sacred area. Ultimately, the research elucidates Segni's pivotal strategic, political, and cultural role in Latium, highlighting how local traditions and Hellenistic architectural innovations intersected during the late Republic.
