Le Ville Romane di Sanremo

Nel quadro degli studi sulla Liguria romana di Ponente le due ville di Sanremo hanno suscitato fin dalla loro scoperta un vivo interesse, testimoniato dagli scavi condotti durante il '900 da personalità di spicco quali Piero Barocelli e Nino Lamboglia, proseguiti in anni successivi dalla Soprintendenza archeologica. Mancava però fino ad ora uno studio scientifico complessivo dei due complessi: i resti di un sontuoso balneum annesso ad una villa maritima in località Foce, diversi ambienti pertinenti la pars fructuaria di un'altra villa in località Bussana. Il volume rappresenta la sintesi delle ricerche e delle attività di restauro e disseminazione condotte per oltre un decennio in stretta collaborazione tra Università di Genova e Soprintendenza ligure col generoso contributo finanziario del Comune di Sanremo. Within the framework of studies on western Roman Liguria, the two villas of Sanremo have aroused intense interest since their discovery, as witnessed by the excavations conducted during the 20th century by leading figures such as Piero Barocelli and Nino Lamboglia, continued in subsequent years by the Archaeological Superintendency. However, an overall scientific study of the two complexes has been lacking until now: the remains of a sumptuous balneum annexed to a maritime villa in the Foce locality, several rooms pertaining to the pars fructuaria of another villa in the Bussana locality. The volume represents the synthesis of research, restoration and dissemination activities conducted for over a decade in close collaboration between the University of Genoa and the Ligurian Superintendency with the generous financial contribution of the Municipality of Sanremo.
