This monograph provides a comprehensive archaeological analysis of the southern sector of the West side of the Agora of Cyrene, tracing its spatial, structural, and monumental evolution from the late 7th century BC to Late Antiquity. Grounded in systemic stratigraphic excavations and archival survey documentation, the study highlights the site's long-standing sacred function, initiated by the early Archaic temenos dedicated to Apollo Archegetes. Subsequent phases reveal critical urbanistic developments, including the late 6th-century BC erection of the Prytaneion, a major 4th-century BC monumental renewal featuring the First Temple of Apollo, and post-Jewish Revolt restorations during the Roman and Late Antique periods. By examining construction techniques, architectural elements, epigraphic evidence, and votive deposits, the volume elucidates how changing civic and religious imperatives reshaped this crucial public space within the Cyrenaican metropolis.
