The Bullettino dell'Istituto di Diritto Romano was established in 1888 by Vittorio Scialoja, then head of the Institute of Roman Law at the University of Rome " La Sapienza". Today the journal is published by the Institute of Roman Law "Vittorio Scialoja" with headquarters at the Department of Legal Sciences of Sapienza - University of Rome. The journal is oriented to develop the most rigorous attention to historical-philological aspects in Roman Law studies. The direction of the Bulletin is collegiate. Although it includes scholars with different interests and related methodological options, the basic line of the Bulletin has not changed, and the historical-philological dimension of the contributions published in it constitutes its main support.
