Ariccia

This volume presents a detailed study of the archaeological landscape of Aricia (modern Ariccia) and its surrounding territory in the Alban Hills. Combining archival documentation, historical bibliography, cartographic sources, and direct field surveys, the monograph offers a comprehensive cataloging of the area's ancient remains. The research examines the urban and territorial development of Aricia from the Archaic period through the Republican, Imperial, and Medieval eras, focusing on key structural features such as the town walls, the Via Appia, water supply systems, and public or private edifices. By documenting visible monuments, previously unpublished structures, and areas at risk of destruction from modern development, the author reconstructs the ancient human landscape and provides an essential tool for heritage protection and urban planning. A thorough synthesis of literary and epigraphic sources further contextualizes the site's historical evolution within the sphere of Roman influence.
